Here's What Bobby Did To Close His First Strategy Deal at €13,500 πŸŽ‰

My favourite wins are the $5k Accelerator member wins !

There is nothing that fuels me πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ more than seeing clients get results !

While I feel blessed, it's totally their win, and THEY deserve it !

For privacy I will call this member "Bobby", he sent me this, this Tue. 11 AUG. Morning :

If we boiled it down to the ONE thing that members who get a result do differently from those who didn't, it's this :

Taking action.

Think about it :

  1. Those with the belief they can do it, but who don't take action : $0 closed.
  2. Those even without the belief they can do it, but who take action : $5,000+ closed.

Taking action beats πŸ₯Š Belief & Mindset. One can re-shape his beliefs simply by taking action. It's so simple. Yet, experts, we overthink things, have so many certitudes, while others less experienced, just take action and go faster ! What a great lesson !

So here's the thing, Bobby, is actually a CTO, employed, and not even (yet) a technical founder. Yes.

Here's what he did. He :

  • Just wanted to figure out how to start his own business or make a shift in his career.
  • Joined Engineers Can Talk community, then our events, then ...
  • Joined the pilot version of the $5k accelerator in May 2026.
  • During the program he got solicited with an opportunity from his own network (way before we started with outreach)
  • Booked a prep call with me before a first conversations with a prospect.
  • Being self-reliant, tried to do the proposal by himsel :scoping, designing, imagining what the architecture should look like.
  • Started to build a complex proposal
  • Got overwhelmed when it came to price a complex, risky project
  • Called me to talk about it. I said STOP. Don't spend one calorie before sending a 3-option proposal. Option 1 is an audit.
  • Asked me questions, and took action on recommendations
  • Built a 3-option proposal from our templated, in his native language, based on input from his meeting with prospect.
  • Shipped it and got client objections.
  • Handled them and held his ground.
  • Closed the option 2 of the 3-option proposal : boom €13.500 !
  • Owns and deserves all the reward !πŸŽ‰
  • Can now start a business with peace-of-mind. First a paid diagnostic before building the next phase.

So I am wondering, if it took an employed CTO to close his first $5k+ strategic deal 100 days, what stops you from doing it in 60 days as a technical founder, with a service firm, with or without employees, and already closing 6-figure implementation gigs?

Long time no read ! I'm narrowing this newsletter: Engineers Can Talk becomes soon Engineers Can Sell. This will be focused on technical founders and experts who want to get paid for the results they help achieve rather than their labor or deliverables. More specific than what you originally signed up for, and probably not for everyone. Lots of gems coming this way but, first things first. Why this ? After working with, listening to and asking members of my community: Me "Guys, what do you...

In December I ran a $55 experiment. Could a group of technical founders build a $5k strategic offer in 5 days? That was the stated goal. $55, 5 days, 15 people joined. My private question was bigger : would anyone actually sell it? Two months later, I got my answer. And by the way ... it's been a months I didn't write to you here, πŸ™πŸΌ I've been busy collecting case studies and enough results to have something worth sharing, however small it is ... I have more to share, but let's start with the...

I went all-in writing for several days in a row then pfffssshhh ...🎈deflated ! My 30-day writing challenge back in June (writing every day on my newsletter + LinkedIn posts derailed on day 19). So it's a 63% success, nothing glamorous, but not as disastrous at it felt. A few consecutive unsubscribes set me on a panic 😱 so I pressed the red button 🚨. Old demons πŸ‘Ή returned, I tried to fight it while experimenting a few things this summer, and now I am back for another round πŸ₯Š. 🟒 What worked (in...
